Family Room Fan Coil

The unit came from Trane by common carrier truck. That means that I had to be there to unload it. The trucker only moves the pallet to the rear of the truck. The shipping weight was almost 200 pounds, a little tough by myself. What I had to do was backup my pickup truck  to the back of the delivery truck and slide the skid down 2 feet into the bed. To get it out of my truck, I used the aluminum ramps. Al Romano and I carried it up to the 2nd floor and into the attic on its side. The unit is designed to fit in between framing on 16 inch centers.

The unit was hung by threaded rod with vibration isolators from the roof.

For the best access, I built the system from the back first. Once I installed the return duct in front, It would be much more difficult to get  in and out.

The main duct sections were made by my favorite sheet metal fabricator, Ductworks, in Plainfield. I sketched up the plans, and they built them. I picked them up on the day they had their Christmas Party. I am lucky that I got them when I did,  they must have been sipping eggnog early, I found a few mistakes that I had to correct by myself. Completing the system was a priority, we had already had a few nights below 50 in the bedroom (family room).

After the supply ductwork was complete, I moved on to the water piping and insulation. Elaine helped with the insulation. Taping was her specialty.

And the power & control wiring to the thermostat.

Finally the return duct was installed blocking most access from that side.

Then Elaine helped insulate it.
