Chimney top addition
At this point the chimney is complete up to the existing top. Work from here is from a scaffold or the roof.
When the old chimney cap was removed, the top was not hard or even. This was not good enough to set block on. I had to build a form and pour a slab on the top to level it out and distribute the weight.
For weekend work, I scheduled a mason to lay the block on top. I also hired 2 workers for support. 100 blocks and many buckets of mortar had to be schlepped to the top.
Flue liner tiles were added as we went up.
