A willing foe and sea room, and the Queen, God bless her
Friday, Scott and I hired Martin to take us on a hike. He picked us up on his boat and took us to his van and drove us to a trail head. We walked up through farming areas that were integrated into the forest. The main products of the area were coconuts and bananas. Other interesting plants were pointed out as we went. Some of the things that we saw were bay tree (bay leaves), cinnamon tree, lime tree, almond tree, Guava, Castor tree, coffee, and papaya. The only animals that we saw were lizards, aside from some farm animals like pigs, and cows.
Sweethearts and wives, may they never meet, and the Queen, God bless her
Saturday we left early for Martinique. It was a hard 60 mile sail. Winds were forward of the beam @ 20 - 25 knots. The main town there is Fort deFrance. Right across the bay is another town called Anse Mitan. We dropped anchor there, cleaned up and went into the waterfront restaurant for dinner. Sunday we were planning to spend the day there and move on Monday for St. Lucia
Absent friends and those at sea, and the Queen, God bless her
Sunday when we woke up, it was raining. Since we were in France, folks don't work on Sunday, so everything was closed. Rather then spending the day on the boat in the rain, we decided to sail to St. Lucia in the rain... and there was much wind. Once the wind speed touched 30, but it was mostly 20-25 off the port beam, an east wind. After a wet 6 hours we arrived in Marigot Bay, St. Lucia. This is where the original Dr. Doolittle was filmed. The local restaurant had 2 for 1 drink specials all night, so we had a few rum punches. Luckily we were only a short walk from the boat.
Our ships at sea, and the Queen, God bless her
Monday, with Scott, we hired a car to drive us to a waterfall, and the beach. On the way, we found the guy selling coconuts and bought some from him and took some pictures with their Boa snake. Dinner was at another local restaurant perched on pilings in a mangrove swamp at the edge of Marrigot bay. Luckily they spray for mosquitoes every week. The dinner was outstanding, Colin and I had the curry goat.
Ourselves, as no one is likely to concern themselves, and the Queen, God bless her
Tuesday we packed and cleaned up the boat. A car took us to the airport around 11:00 and we were on our way home through San Juan.
